I added it up. Including a few doctors appointments that could not be scheduled at other times, I've missed 9 days combined from July through January including 4 days for the Flu for both of my kids. It was 1 day July (kid), 1 day september (me), 4 hours combined appointments october + 4 days flu, December - 1/2 day kid, January 1 day me, 1 day kid.
That is not a lot at all! I would say that’s pretty average or even less than average for parents of multiple young kids.
9 days in six months is not a lot? If the next six months are similar it will be 18 days/year!
Yeah, that's not a lot. My kids (1 and 3) have each been sick 1-2 days every 2 weeks, give or take, since September. Fortunately I have a flexible job, but I'm pretty much constantly making up hours late at night since I only get 10 sick days a year. Which does nothing for my health, I'm sure, but it is what it is. Prior to this winter, sickness for my one kid was more like ~1 day/month which was still over my available sick leave, especially when you consider well child visits and my own doctor's appointments, but easier to make up. If I had a rigid job (e.g. no options for making up time/work) and no spousal help either, it would be impossible. That's why I said in the previous post OP needs to have a come to Jesus talk with their partner about WFH. Either he has to suck it up and ask at his current job or he (or she) needs to find a new job.
