We were at a daycare where they watched almost an hour of TV a day (including morning and aftercare). I thought it was excessive, so we left. Our current daycare does not even have a TV. I think it's unacceptable to let the kids watch TV in a daycare. I would definitely ask how long they kids spend watching TV. And, if it's every day? I also agree about asking if they provide alternatives. I would pick DD up sometimes at her old daycare (where there was TV) and the kids were mostly 'forced' to watch TV. As in, if they got up to walk around, they'd be instructed to 'sit back down and watch tv'.
I have 3 kids [now older in college]. Based on moving we were at 5 different preschools. None turned on the TV except when they played video of little plays or shows the children had been in. 1 FCPS school played about 20 -30 minutes almost daily of disney style videos. That was kindergarten and they were not allowed to walk around or do anything else. The teacher said they were resting and unwinding to go home.
