I think everyone understands when a dog barks for a minute or two. We are talking about barking that lasts for an hour, or more. I live in the suburbs, our houses are close together. When one neighbor got a dog, they would let it out and it would spend the next 3 hours barking and whining to be let in. I would have all my windows and doors closed and I can hear every whine and bark. It drives you crazy. You can’t even enjoy a moment without barking because you are on high alert waiting for the next bark. It’s just really selfish and inconsiderate and not nice to he dog either.
This is not what the OP is saying. The dog barks for a few minutes when it’s let out and then goes back in. Sometimes this happens at 1 am, sometimes at 11. It’s not barking for hours. We have a dog like this in our neighborhood. There’s not much you can do. The owner knows it’s barking and doesn’t care.
