My neighbors have their dog out every night from 5:30-9pm. It sits at the door and looks inside and barks at them and I can't possibly understand why they find that more tolerable than the dog being inside. I feel you, OP.
I do too. It’s a tough one. You don’t want to be a grumpy jerk. Our neighbors do the same thing. Thankfully it’s not in the middle of the night, but it’s early morning and then throughout the day and evening. I have never once seen them take the dog for a walk and they rarely play with it. I feel sorry for the dog, who seems neglected to me. Not abused, but ignored. I cannot fathom why they got the dog. For the poster asking about the 10 minute rule. This is becoming a more common noise ordinance. Since too many people are unable to understand the effect of their actions on others and violence has become so random, it’s yet another social ill we’ve thrown onto the police.
75% of dog owners have no business owning a dog. We should require licenses to own dogs imo to weed out the lazy irresponsible types who get a dog and never train, discipline, or walk it. There are way too many deadbeat dog owners who neglect their dog which leads to it becoming a nuisance to everyone around them.
