I am OP and the way I make it is I steam white rice and when it's done, I pour a couple tablespoons of vegetable oil and about a tbsp of sesame oil into a very hot pan. Then I throw the kimchi in and some bean sprouts and let them get hot and then put the rice in and mix it all together. At this point I also usually add some soy sauce, maybe another little bit of sesame oil, and some of that red chili oil you can get at Chinese restaurants because even the spicy kimchi you can get in stores is not spicy enough for me. Then I dump it in a bowl and put a fried egg on top!

Yeah when I was at the Safeway I stopped at the girl who worked there that I asked about it said she used to work at a Safeway in DC and they had it, but this store did not. This was in Reston, VA (I don't live there, just was in that area yesterday) so I'm thinking the TJ's and Safeways closer in to DC might carry more of the ethnic stuff... who knows, but those two stores did not have it! Not the OP, but be sure to use leftover rice (cold/refrigerated) when making fried rice. It will be gummy if you use warm rice.[/quote]

Not OP or PP, but you need to drain the kimchi really well so it's not liquidy.

As someone who cooks a LOT of Asian food, I am obligated to point out that kimchi fried rice is NOTHING without spam, though. I kid you not, ask your Korean friends. :)[/quote]
