What is AMC 10 A/B?
A new theater
That gave me a chuckle. But seriously, I have a kid in ES—what is it?
It is a math competition test. I believe AMC stands for American Math Competition
It's for up to 10th grade. One of my kids started taking it at 11, but a lot of it is beyond them at that age.
There's also an AMC 8. Anyone in enriched math in MCPS is invited to try it during Middle School.
My kid was not offered this at our MCPS middle school and has always been in enriched math. (Geometry in 8th grade) This is not offered at every school - yet another example of how your kid’s experience will differ based on which cluster she attends.
This is true. They don't promote this even for schools that offer it. MCPS doesn't want increase the math gap or maybe increasing stress. But Montgomery College always offers it.. you just need to look.
