It's for up to 10th grade. One of my kids started taking it at 11, but a lot of it is beyond them at that age.
There's also an AMC 8. Anyone in enriched math in MCPS is invited to try it during Middle School.
My kid was not offered this at our MCPS middle school and has always been in enriched math. (Geometry in 8th grade)
This is not offered at every school - yet another example of how your kid’s experience will differ based on which cluster she attends.
Yes, DS took it at our DCC MS every year even won some award.

Sounds like a staffing issue.
not a staff issue. It’s a priority issue. Leaderships don’t recognize these activities, teachers are doing all the extracurricular from their own good hearts.

This is true. They don't promote this even for schools that offer it. MCPS doesn't want increase the math gap or maybe increasing stress.
But Montgomery College always offers it.. you just need to look.

You would have to get your school registered within a few weeks.
Many colleges and universities offer AMC 8 and 10/12. If your school is not offering AMC 8, and any of these locations are nearby, you could contact them and ask for your child to take the AMCs with them.

You would have to ask the school to register, or take it through an outside group. It would cost the school about $100 plus $3 per student.
