So excited for Thanksgiving as we're hosting friends this year. So far: Pumpkin pie cooling on the counter Bread cubes for dressing cut and drying An enormous amount of yukon gold/russet potatoes cut and ready to cook/mash tomorrow Sweet potatoes cubed and ready for cooking White wines chilling, red wine + gluhwein ready to go This year I remembered to put the turkey in the fridge to start thawing on Sunday which for me is a big win, ha. PP who is grilling your turkey, what a great idea. I've just put that notion onto DH's plate for consideration because that must surely be amazing!
Wait, you can peel and cut potatoes in advance? Don’t they brown or change texture?
I completely make my mashed potatoes the day before all the time. Put them into a casserole dish and heat them up on the day you're serving them. I also make a variation sometimes with cheddar and sour cream that are delicious. Mine are already made for tomorrow and it's one of those things that make the day of much easier.
