We take off our shoes inside but when I host a big gathering, I do not insist on shoes off. I just clean afterwards. I think leaving shoes off keeps the house much cleaner, but it is not like we are going to keel over if shoes are worn occasionally. I have never had issues with scuff marks...are your floors very light OP? Are these boots terribly dirty?
Same. We are shoes off for ourselves, but I never ask guests to remove their shoes. I clean after they leave. I do have shoes covers that I offer trades people since they are usually in boots and it’s more effort to take them off. I’m having a hard time picturing boots that scuff floors. I know someone who keeps a basket of slippers by their door for guests and someone who gives footie-style slippers to people, which they take home. It’s up to you, OP, but I think that if you want to train your family to go shoes off in your house, it’s done better over time, so people know your position on shoes inside, instead of at a big family gathering.
