Just mind your own business. You seriously need to go to therapy to see why this is bothering you so much. Move on with your life.
YES! But isn't "my business" the education my kids are receiving/have received?? In therapy - professional recommendation was that I share this with the school, the school board, or even let her know that her PhD is not showing as part of her license so that I can work on letting it go- Of course this was coming from a professional who takes licensing and such pretty seriously in general. So, posted here to see what other parents might do. Turns out -- majority seems to think it's totally ok for a teacher to call herself whatever she wants and the real problem is that I care!
Your kids would have received an identical education whether she was an MA, MEd, DeD, or PhD, boqualified to teach. And the school KNEW the licensing she reported to the state when they hired her. So, the school almost certainly how’s she has a masters, not a doctorate. For some reason, she wants the extra measure of respect from the kids. It’s ridiculous, but does mean she lacks the qualifications for her job. She didn’t lie to the accreditation board, or apparently FCPS when she was hired unless they were too lazy to check. She isn’t getting paid more. At best, you are a parent with no kids in the school who wants a random called Ms. X, not Dr. x. And it’s weird you are so hung up on that. Personal grudge? too much time on your hands? This is NBD unless she lied to the licensing board or lied in the hiring process. Plus, you are going to feel like a moron when you learn she is ABD or has a doctorate she didn’t report because it isn’t in her field— like a Doctorate of theology— or is worthless because it’s from an unaccredited U or is a doctorate for a foreign county. — signed a JD who takes licensing seriously.
