I grew up in the Midwest and trick or treating was always on a weekend night. The Saturday closest to Halloween.  So, yes, other areas of the country do. I’ve been here long enough to not ask :) [/quote]

Same here (St. Louis area) but was talking with a friend today who's from Chicago and she said not only did she trick-or-treat in her neighborhood on a designated weekend night growing up, but the place she lived even published trick-or-treat times, like from 4-6:30 pm. I never went out before dark, even when I was really little! So yes, there are definitely local/regional differences and you are not crazy for asking, OP. I hope you and your kid have a great Halloween![/quote]

Also from Chicago and this was not the norm. Must have been something special in her small neighborhood. Everyone else trick or treated on Halloween, not some pre set weekend night. [/quote]
