at that price, i'm tempted to buy it for myself!! it's gorgeous! Holidays? Hello! And it's not too formal that you could wear it again. AND in the future, you could have it shortened to be even more casual!

I would go for it- 
The length is right, the price is right, and if it fits well and makes you feel good, you will exude the confidence that makes it look great!
