Unless your jobs are completely remote, I would place a higher priority on shortening your commute. The traffic and commute times in the DC region are some of the worst in the country. You want to prioritize being closer to work for the days that you need to go to the office (if any). There are good options, both inbound and magnet in both Fairfax and Montgomery counties, but if you have to spend hours in the car daily for the years leading up to your child(ren) being in high school without even knowing if they will be accepted to said programs, then it isn't worth it.
