What we now have is an ongoing pandemic of the unvaccinated. One simply cannot dispute the statistics. Other than very elderly or persons with serious comorbidities, the folks dying from covid - still ~400 Americans every day on average - are overwhelmingly unvaccinated. The vaccine won’t necessarily prevent infection, but it is overwhelmingly likely to prevent your death if infected, especially for people over 50.

I wouldn’t be as sad for someone 80+ dying, as quality of life declines a great deal in the 80s for most elders. But the 70s are still very productive years for folks of average or good health. I’m currently working as a respite hospice care provider to a 95 year old woman whose 71 year old daughter is providing the majority of her mother’s care. That’s really hard work for a person my age (51), and I’m not losing sleep like the 71 year old daughter is.

I’m scheduled for my covid19 booster end of next week. Had my flu shot this week. Will never understand antivaxxers; vaccines are overwhelmingly safe they are the single most beneficial advance in human history responsible for saving countless lives. One could argue that they were in that case bad for the planet, but they are most definitely good for the vast majority of individual humans who take them. I will happily get a yearly covid19 booster vaccine, just as I’ve gotten the flu vaccine for decades now.[/quote]
