OP here. Thank you all. I have an infant daughter and I desperately want to teach her healthy habits and body image. Has anyone done that successfully even if you yourself are still a work in progress?
Yes, I have and I understand. My mother gave all four of her children horrific body images, three are borderline anorexic, and me well the complete opposite. I take after my dad. When I had children I knew this was going to be so hard. Mine are grown all healthy eaters. No food issues, because I made it a nonissue. Food and eating is the center of many things we do in a society. It is important for kids to understand that moderation is the key. 1. Never force your kid to eat 2. keep choices in the house healthy and even some unhealthy. Baking cookies is a fun thing to do they don't need to eat them all at once. Fruit should not be the only snack item of course they should eat fruit daily, but some ice cream can be fine too. and no diet snacks. 3. As your daughter ages go with her to the grocery store let her help with some meals. Look at the ingredients of items maybe do some comparisons. Most kid like taking ownership and it's a life skill to learn to cook. Win-win. 4. Soda- not necessary and never diet. We didn't buy soda at meals our kids never cared. We'd buy it for birthdays and or maybe a backyard bbq or if on vacation. My kids never felt they were deprived of soda. It's funny now they say they won't buy it when eating out because it adds so much to the cost of the meal LOL OP my list is just a place to think about. My suggestion is please get help. Having tools will be the best thing you can do for your DC and you. 5. I am over 60 and still a work in progress for me. My kids healthy eates.
