I seriously don't know anyone like this.
I know people who are paying for college for their kids, but want their kids to have some skin in the game by contributing financially.
I know people who can't afford to pay all of college for their kids, so need their kids to earn income to make college happen.
I don't know of anyone who has means who insist kids pay off college themselves with side jobs. I can't imagine this is a super common.  It's really hard in today's world to pay for college with side jobs.[/quote]

Not true of people with means. We did not expect our kids to pay for college. We did expect them to work in the summer.

I know people say no one pays full price for college but at DCs college, and many of the top schools, 30-40% of the kids are full pay. [/quote]
