Why is he doing this? We are complying with the constitution? I thought SCOTUS wanted states to decide these issues. How can Hogan do this unilaterally? I am already so scared about gun violence in this area. https://wjla.com/news/local/maryland-gun-laws-md-state-police-governor-larry-hogan-permit-wear-carry-weapon-supreme-court-ruling-new-york-law-provisions-standards-handgun
Did you read your own link? No SCOTUS did not invite states to decide this issue.
Let’s be fair, understanding SCOTUS is confusing. States can’t restrict gun laws, but they can restrict health care for women.
Also, SCOTUS isn't creating legislation, it negated precedence, just like Roe. That in and of itself creates the implication of states' rights. There's no need to preempt what is already in place in a state unless it's challenged there. It hasn't been. He just decided to do it anyway. It's a brash political move and if I'm still alive in November by somehow not being shot, I will welcome a Dem governor, because there's no question that we will put only a Democrat in office here, now. Maryland isn't going down the toilet by Republicans. We have a lot of work to do.
