My son has SN that became apparent around kindergarten. We might have considered something else, but our nanny is going to be here for the long haul because she is totally amazing with him and helps us handle the reams of extra work needed for everything he does (SN parents know how many extra forms, how much more work it is to help kids do ordinary activities like swimming, therapies at odd times). We are very grateful to be able to afford this and the costs of the SN kid. Then again, probably one of us would need to quit our job if we didn't have her, so it is a worthwhile investment. So probably high school.
This. I'm a 24/7 live-in nanny for a child with behavior challenges and special needs. I also tutor him and handle everything when the parent is working out of state. I've already been told that my employer wants me to stay until he goes to college or she retires, whichever comes first.
