Just get him a reusable one. It's probably easier for the pool to enforce an age-based rule than have to deal with parents saying their kids are potty trained and then having to deal with accidents.
+1 A kid poops in the pool, it's a huge pain. Just get a reusable one.
This. I'm betting they've been burned before and now are super cautious. Get the reusable kind and move on with your life.
I understand caution, but a diaper on an almost 5 year old NT kid seems a bit ridiculous.
Also, I used reusable diapers and the swim ones we had would not have fit my average sized child at age 4. Where does one find a reusable swim diaper for an almost 5yo? I’m also curious where this is so we don’t go there.
Here's a listing for a $14 reuaseable diaper made to fit your child: https://www.etsy.com/listing/695246724/size-large-plaid-boys-swim-diaper-little?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=swim+diaper+5t&ref=sr_gallery-1-6&frs=1 That being said, I do think it's a bit much to expect fully potty trained 4yos to have to wear one JUST for swim classes. My 2yo has been fully out of diapers for six months now and I can't imagine having to buy swim diapers for her for the next two years.
Would you happen to know if these can be slipped on like underpants? We bought DS the disposable swimmers just because we figured there would be no need for a reusable one once swim lessons had concluded. But really the price of the disposable swimmers isn't really much better.
I have never actually used this seller but there is a “pull up” option in the drop downs
