I don’t think there’s a lot of brain power there anymore, because that tweet is just ridiculous. For people that work on the Hill and live in proximity, sure, I get it. But for the “average” DC resident we were watching it in TV just like the rest of America. In my own lifetime I can think of many incidents that were actually traumatizing for the city of DC and not “Washington”. This would include off the top of my head: the Air Florida crash, the sniper, 911, and anthrax. Old timers would probably include the ‘68 riots, obviously. Jan. 6 just doesn’t even compare, but it’s a perfect encapsulation of their smugness.
