[/quote] If people are late because they're getting "stuck at work" then it seems more likely that you're talking about the Kabbalat Shabbat service on Friday night, rather than the Shabbat morning service on Saturday. In that case, yes, it's not as acceptable to show up late, but that's more because the service is only 30 minutes long and showing up late means you miss more of it (proportionally) than the 2-hour morning service. The shorter Friday night service is not what OP is talking about.[/quote]
