CMU is Carnegie-Mellon, in Pittsburgh. We don't have first hand experience here but OP, I've heard good things about Mary Washington in Fredericksburg too. An earlier PP mentioned Mary Washington. That PP also noted, and I agree, that there is a world of difference between a massive school like WVU and smaller colleges/universities, no matter which ones. Touring different size schools will show her that difference. It's easier to be lost in the crowd as a freshman at a huge university. But I'd be sure your DD tours one so she can judge for herself!
