Anyone can call themselves a nanny. No educational courses or professional license is required. [/quote] That’s unfortunately correct. So parents must educate themselves on the difference between a sitter and a professional nanny. I think most American parents actually prefer sitters for two reasons: 1. Sitters usually have less child development knowledge and experience, so they’re easier to micromanage. 2. Sitters are usually cheaper than professional nannies.[/quote]
