+1.
Exactly. This is one indication of a professional nanny vs. a custodial care babysitter, who needs to be directed. Now you know why true pros earn 35+ per hour in this area, while sitters are closer to the 20-25 range. All the parental control efforts you see here on DCUM may be necessary for sitters, but certainly not for proficient and accomplished professional nannies.
Nannies are not recognized profession in this country. Anyone can call themselves a nanny. No educational courses or professional license is required.

Something else?
OP here. I’m asking because our nanny does and I think it’s extraordinary. Anytime a new issue comes up, she researched it. She’ll send me articles she finds interesting or directly pertains to my kids. I really love that about her. I was just wondering if other nannies do it.
No, I hope you're compensating her top-notch or planning a hell of a bonus for work outside of her official hours. Remember this at the end of year instead of being a scrooge.
OP here. Yes, we give her a good annual bonus and pay well. Plus unlimited PTO which she rarely takes.

Ugh. Such a typical idiot DCUM response. “Constantly”? Who said constantly? And as a parent, do you never research topics that come up or read a new article?
OP, your nanny sounds wonderful and devoted to your kids best interest.

Yes our in home daycare provider does and also attends lots of classes on child development etc.
Good but that’s not a nanny. Your daycare provider is running a business and has other children beyond your to consider and make get along.
