NIMBY's have no power beyond their own perceived sense of entitlement while they exercise their privilege, stomp their feet, start petitions, harass public officials etc. He has skin in the game and the power to make them change their minds.[/quote]

Adding... these type of business development projects happen all the time with conditions, all over the place. The only difference is he chose to go testify publicly. He could have submitted a statement, probably call any of the council members, etc. You can keep your interpretation of NIMBY, no one really cares. But what he actually is, is a business person who has committed to making investments in the community, has probably always been clear about his vision and conditions, and maybe they decided to move in another direction. He could have done all of it behind closed doors, this is just a publicity stunt.[/quote]
