Beans: buy the dry instead. Not only cheaper but so easy to cook up a pound in the IP (~35 minutes). I freeze in baggies of 1.5 cups each…the same as what’s in a can. I’ve been doing this with black beans, white beans and garbanzo beans. I also tried making my own refried beans for the first time last week and they were so delicious. A huge bag of dried pinto beans was $7. https://www.wellplated.com/instant-pot-refried-beans/
+1 I started making my own beans in the instant pot about six months ago because canned beans are really, really hard to find. And it's so easy to make yourself.
PP who was struggling to find the canned beans - that sounds nice! Unfortunately I don't have an instant pot or pressure cooker. The last two recipes I tried using dried beans just didn't turn out well, no matter how long I cooked them they still came out too hard. I vowed to go back to canned beans, but was surprised when they've been hard to find!!
I believe with red beans if you add salt before they are done cooking they stay hard. Google the issue and consider trying again. They are easy to make and so much better than canned.
