[/quote] I don't think she's an idiot. I think her example is extreme. But you cannot deny that the Bible has some strong opinions about the proper role of women in society. People who hold out the Bible as their authority on religion, and their religion as their authority on politics, may have some questionable ideas about women. See McDonnell's famous thesis about fornicator, cohabitators, women working outside the home.... Keep in mind that women were given the right to vote because the white male power structure wanted to dilute the black male vote. It's been less than 100 years since we got voting rights.
