Concerning the right to vote, I agree with 8:49 that it is extreme to predict a GOP assault on the right of all women to vote, but their "voting security" initiative is an attack on the voting rights of all poor women (and men, too).

ASK any of them who are SAH moms or work and they are a MAJOR part of all decisions the male makes (sometimes they are the final say person, at least in my house). I think you are right, that poster jumped the shark on voting rights. But the Republican party has bigger women's issues.

You have just five female senators. Of them, Susan Collins has a 83% NARAL Rating. Olympia Snowe has an 83% NARAL rating, and one is Murkowski who was handed her first term by her own father, so you have really two conservative women elected free and clear by the Republican Party out of 47 Republican senators.

And out of 242 Republican House Members, you have but 23 women. That's under 10% vs 25% for Dems.

Something is wrong. Either the party has a problem attracting female candidates, or it has a supporting them. So forget what Hollywood says. Look at what Republicans say. The numbers do not lie.

This. I agree with most Dem policies anyways, and think they do actually have ideas and priorities around bringing people out of poverty. Even if I didn't, until Republicans stop being the anti-minority, anti-gay, anti-everything party, I will never vote for one. There are many (not as many as before) moderate Republicans who in their hearts are probably decent individuals who care about this country as a whole. But so long as they align themselves with bigots, misogynists, and xenophobes, they'll never get my vote.

I don't have any trust that one day they won't haul my completely legally-immigrated self out of this country. They're on a very slippery slope, and I don't think they have a sense for the changing demographics in this nation or that they really care about helping those who need the most help.
