Just chiming in to say that I LOVE Chicago and this area of Chicagoland is great, too. Great region to raise kids.
Even the top schools don't seem to send many kids to top universities, though. Do the Chicagoland privates?
Where are you getting this information? Plenty of kids from plenty of top schools in Chicagoland matriculate to top universities all over the country.
Which schools, and which "top universities?" Just read an article that none of the usual suspects like NT, Glenbrooks, etc. send many kids to the Ivys. I looked at the most recent list of GBS seniors and it was a whole lot of Wisc and Iowa State.
Can you link to said article? In my experience, there are plenty of kids going to the Ivies from New Tier, the Glenbrooks, the Naperville schools, Barrington, and all throughout. UChicago and Northwestern are also hometown schools and plenty of kids opt for that route. And yes, hordes of kids make it out to the Big Ten schools. Less familiar with the private schools (and to be honest private schools are less of a thing there outside of Catholic schools, since the public schools tend to be so good).
