Because there's plenty of stuff on here that has nothing (or very little) to do with kids (restaurants, real estate, job advice, etc.). Google these things and you might end up here. And there are very few anonymous forums that allow you to discuss a wide range of topics like DCUM does. I was on here for years before I had kids.

I also thought it was helpful in finding out more about what it's like to raise kids in the DMV, which helped me decide if I even wanted to have kids at all (turns out that, yes, I did want to have them, but no, I did not want to raise them in the DC area-- and I grew up there, so I'm not putting it down, but it's different now than it was).[/quote]
