Our teen DD went to both Rogers and Discovery. Both were excellent, especially their individual therapists. Discovery also was local and a house setting whereas Rogers was very far away and a hospital setting. Definitely can recommend Discovery if you can get on their waiting list. There also are 3 houses in our area so their list moves a little faster.
We are looking into Discovery. Which one did you kid go to? It would be the easiest for us since it's local and it is covered by insurance, but I have a hard time finding any reviews about it.
She was in the Annandale house, one of the newer ones.
PP above, whose DD was at Discovery’s Annandale house for 7.5 weeks. Your DD has had an actual suicide attempt. She desperately needs the intensive help the therapists there provide. They are covered by insurance, which is very extremely hard to come by and would cost you close to $50,000-$80,000 for a residential stay otherwise. They are local, so you can run things to her if needed (they don’t allow visitations due to covid but I said hello from the yard). Don’t hesitate any longer trying to hunt down reviews, get her on the waitlist NOW and then research more while you wait. If you find somewhere else, just say so when they call and they’ll move to the next name on the list. If your DD is like ours, this is a mental health issue that will not go away fast or easily. It will be a marathon, not a sprint, and you need to jump on whatever intensive help you have access that insurance covers. Particularly since there has been an actual attempt.
Agree - from the PP whose kid went to Rogers. Start the process. If you find something else, you can decline a spot later on.
