I had collections people coming after me due to something involving my mom. They tried every con to try to get me to pay her debts. It was scary. I was not a joint account holder with her (thank god) but she did make me an authorized signer on one, which is why they tried to shake me down. I didn’t use the account — it was there in case of emergency when I was in college and I’d forgotten about it when the collectors started calling me 20’years later. The point is people want their money (understandable) but without knowing your liability here you don’t know what you owe. Did the lawyer look at your paperwork to help you figure this out yet? Seems like some of these subs should be going after the guy you hired. If you were the GC, then you’re probably in a deeper hole. Good luck.[/quote]
