If there's a grace period in the lease, then the landlord (and [i]you[/i]) has no business complaining about it arriving by midnight on the 5th. If the landlord can't afford a grace period, the landlord shouldn't put it in the lease. There is no one holding a gun to his/her head forcing them to put this in the lease. Which is the same thing I say when anyone acts all moralistic about me not paying my mortgage before the grace period is up. If the mortgage companies can't handle it, they have no business putting it in the contract. Grown ups don't put stuff like this in writing and then get all pissy when people act accordingly.
