I am going to give some tough love here. He isn’t that impressive. He doesn’t impress with intelligence or vision. And regardless of his nickname, he is a rich white boy who went to a posh boarding school. I think the party should learn from Virginia. By now, the Democratic Party needs to offer something other than a rich white guy if it is going to succeed in convincing people it is the party of diversity.
Trump is a rich white man who went to a posh boarding school and univ. But, Trumpsters still love him. The difference is that Beto is not an ahole jerk who caters to other ahole jerks. Oh, you mean Dems won't vote for him?
But you aren’t competing against Trump. You are competing against a generally successful governor who went to a Texas university, is married to a Hispanic woman and is, oh by the way, in a wheelchair. Cute kennedy-esque Beto needs more than charm.
Yea, I know who he is competing against. My point is that they will support Abbott over Beto because Abbott isn't your rich white dude, but they seem to have no problems supporting Trump who is a rich white dude. you don't see the double standard there? The only thing that intersects Abbott and Trump is that both are willing to cater to aholes.
No Democrat will get the red red Republicans. Forget that. The candidate needs to appeal to moderates. And the candidate needs to be serious. I am one who has severe buyers remorse about Biden. I am not saying I would have voted for Trump. But I feel like I got something much different than I expected. And my other moderate friends agree. So I think there is an element of caution among moderates and we need to be won. If Beto were on the ticket today against Abbot, and I lived in Texas, which I don’t, I would have to hold my nose for either but I would pick Abbott. Beto doesn’t have the stuff.
