OP again. Excellent points made here and thank you for your responses. Okay, how about this: 6 hours, $30 an hour, 10 to 4 or 11 to 5? That way the nanny or teacher could still sleep late and have the evening free with $180 cash in her pocket?
NP here and that has to be good! Geez!! $180 in your pocket every Saturday?! Come on!
The price is fine. Its the fact that she wants some to reserve every Saturday - traditionally the day most people have off for their own families or interests - after a full week of work at a different job. On top of the fact she's asking for the whole of the day, not just like 2 hours in the morning when they can just make the kids breakfast, wash the dishes and leave. Shrug. She has to find someone looking for extremely part-time hours.
Nonsense. I worked a weekend nanny job, 12 hours a day for both days, for two years. If you need or want the money, you sacrifice 6 hours on a Saturday for $180. Yes, OP, you will definitely find someone at $30 an hour. There are lots of hardworking women out there without the typical DCUM privilege.
Yes she can find someone. I don't see much DCUM privilege anywhere here. I worked at the restaurant for 25 years before becoming an aide in public school. Both are extremely hard jobs with the aide work being much harder in my opinion. While $30 cash an hour is good money, that amount and a lot more, can be made in a restaurant right now. I got yet another call today about how many reservation they have and if I could come in. I already worked all week and one night. I won't be rested by Monday. Forgot completely that I'm also in MA program for ECE. Shortly, not enough workers to go around right now. Schools are short of teachers. We didn't even have a certified teacher in the classroom on Friday. I'm an aide who became the teacher. The teachers make more than $30 an hours. Are they lazy? No, there's a shortage of teachers also. OP has to pay more because of the shortage of workers.
