Arlington Red CRUSHED Barca with mostly ECNL players in VYSA state cup yesterday. ECNL patches on most but not all of the players. They are good! I would be kinda bummed if I was rostered on the red team and got displaced so the club could smack down a mediocre local club.
Cheaters! the harm is done to players from red team and just for a medal that worths nothing. Also there is a difference between how Academy pools work vs what Arlington and other clubs with no academy format do. Academy teams share the cost of the tournaments so every player team A and team B pay the fee. This means that player from A or B have the right to ply in tourney. While those clubs that don’t have the academy format are misleading the cost to their players from team B when they have guest players from team A.
I wasn't there, but I'm skeptical of the claim in the first place. My DS played for Arlington for several years and not once, as far as I am aware, did an academy rostered kid play on the red team. There was some talk at one point of the academy kids playing on the red team if they didn't make the academy roster one weekend due to too many kids - but I never saw it actually happen. So the only way I could see this occurring is if the red team had an ECNL-R game scheduled at a very similar time and both opponents didn't want to reschedule. In which case I think fair is fair.
And in fact looks like the second possibility is exactly what happened. The red team had two games that day only three hours apart.
OH WOW... Which league was the other game if the "red" team was playing state cup? Not seeing a 10/16 game listed in ECNL-R (ECNL-R had a game today 10/17) and they don't have a u-19 "red" team in EDP, CCL or NCSL. Anywho they're badass and loaded.
Sorry - yes you are correct - I got confused with the days. In which case I'm going back to very much doubting this happened at all.
With the VYSA State Cup, the roster freezes at the start of the competition, so it’s not possible to send another team in its place in the event of a schedule conflict. Teams are locked in (22 players)....so Arlington probably selected a mix of ECNL and Red.
