Where did you see data that the SOL from 2021 was changed in terms of difficulty? We were not told it was changed as teachers. They did remove pilot questions which they include to try out new questions for future tests.
"What this means: For grades 3-8, the cut scores were reduced by approximately 10-15% for each grade. And, voilá: more kids are getting 400s on their reading scores, so it does not look like reading proficiency declined as much as it did." Thank you APE for getting the word out! https://us7.campaign-archive.com/?u=12119a80f9eb7a7322f4902ae&id=c7cc21d64f
Duran - what a joke. He just lowered the bar and should be fired. He is a failure. Not a leader.
VBOE made these changes, not Duran
You must not have done very well on the reading SOL. It clearly says Duran is leading the race to the bottom - for the entire state. "Dr. Durán introduced an amendment to adopt a cut score lower than recommended by the State Superintendent, and the State Board adopted that lower threshold."
Durán is giving up on the students and families who need him the most. At least the gym teacher wanted better.
