Whenever FCPS says scores are "holding steady" or still above national averages it's a pretty good sign they are declining, as has been the case in FCPS for the last two years. Scores improved in Loudoun and I wouldn't be surprised if they improved in Arlington as well. Fairfax is a system in steep decline because it constantly sends the message that merit is a product of inequity and should be downplayed, and that the only goal should be equal outcomes for all. Rather than pay dividends, this race to the bottom is driving people with other options out of FCPS.
I’ve worked with both LCPS and FCPS. LCPS is a much better district. It’s a lot easier to be a teacher with LCPS. The students are higher academically and less entitled.
Whatever. Loudoun County is richer (HHI $143k v $125k), has fewer F/R lunch students (18.7% v. 30.91%), has more white and Asian students (68% v 59.5%), and the SAT's have been lower, at least until this year. I do not know them for 2021. In 2020 FCPS was 1211 and LCPS was 1173. The much maligned (on this board anyway) Herndon High School had an average SAT of 1173 in 2020, same as the Loudoun average. Not the only measure, but since this is a thread about SAT scores, and you commented, we'll use that. Glad it is easier to teach there for you, though. Congrats on that.
