We are totally okay with this. We don't want her to be ostracized or lonely (though we are fine with her being alone, which she often chooses to be -- nothing wrong with enjoying your own company). But I don't need her to be the most popular kid in class or some kind of perfect child, adored by peers and adults alike.

I've been on this planet long enough to know that a lot of people have terrible taste and like people for all the wrong reasons. A lot of people just "like" the most attractive and richest people in their orbit with little thought given to whether these are interesting people. How dull! Some people are swayed by the way someone dresses or persuaded by someone's bragging to admire them (look how many people "like" Donald Trump just because he told them he was the best!). Being popular is not the same as being worthwhile. My DD is worthwhile. If you get to know her, you will be rewarded with a loyal, interesting, creative, original friend. If you don't, it is truly your loss. Neither she nor I are going to sweat it.[/quote]
