I work out maskless and don’t wear a mask anywhere I don’t have to. At this point, that is pretty much Drs offices and hospital. I don’t plan on wearing a mask again unless I’m mandated. I’m vaccinated. Covid is mostly spreading among unvaccinated. The vaccinated that do get a break through case are mild. I’m in my 30s with no risk factors
That mild, breakthrough case is contagious and could kill an unvaccinated child. Or an adult who, for medical reasons cannot receive a vaccine. I’m fully vaccinated. I’m masking again in public to protect young children. I do not wear a mask when I work out.
Can you explain the rationale of working out maskless at a gym, but then wearing a mask at say, Safeway or Target?
DP, and one who is going maskless most of the time, but this is a mental question. If you buckle your seatbelt 80% of the time and leave it off 20% of the time does that mean its pointless? Certainly not if you get into a car accident during the 80%. Exposing yourself in one setting in a considered way and throwing all caution out the window will give you different exposure levels to COVID and different levels of risk in passing it on. I could easily see someone seeing the gym is an acceptable risk but upping mask compliance across the board BECAUSE the non-masking at the gym heightens their risk of catching it so they do what they can to ensure they don't spread it if they get it and are asymptomatic or something.
I think you all need to reassess based on the changes in the past week. It has changed a LOT in just the past week. IMO, the CDC at this point needs to mandate mask wearing all across the country and everywhere. And I have rarely worn a mask all summer because I'm vaccinated.
