? Why didn't she use the online Desmos calculator? It opened in the SOL questions. At our school we didn't even distribute graphing calculators and had all the kids use Desmos. When the calculator she was given didn't perform the way she expected why didn't she use Desmos? I'm not trying to be mean but I'm always surprised when kids don't use the resources that are provided.[/quote]

I’m not sure if she didn’t realize she was allowed to use the desmos calculator or if she just freaked out when she realized the calculator wasn’t working. Well, rats.  This is why we only have the kids work on Desmos during the school year.  Besides the improved functionality it makes it easier for kids to use during the actual test because it opens in the actual question.  Kids can quite literally put the calculator right next to the answer selections and compare.  I have some kids come in with their own calculators for class and I'll allow them to use them but I really push all of our staff to get the kids into Desmos.  It is where math is going in the future.  [/quote]
