I’m not sure if she didn’t realize she was allowed to use the desmos calculator or if she just freaked out when she realized the calculator wasn’t working. Math is the hardest subject for her so she already was worried about taking the test. She didn’t say anything about them mentioning they could use the desmos calculator.

Well, rats. This is why we only have the kids work on Desmos during the school year. Besides the improved functionality it makes it easier for kids to use during the actual test because it opens in the actual question. Kids can quite literally put the calculator right next to the answer selections and compare. I have some kids come in with their own calculators for class and I'll allow them to use them but I really push all of our staff to get the kids into Desmos. It is where math is going in the future.

Again, at the elementary and middle school level there are no retakes this year. And you can only retake in other years if 25 pts or less from the passing score.

The scores we get on test day are preliminary and sometimes Pearson will through out a bad question or whatever if there is a clear pattern of students missing it statewide. They have to wait until all the students have taken the test before scores are finalized. Then the scores are sent to the schools and they have to print and mail them to parents. It takes time.

3 elementary school kids. 2 with ieps. All three failed at least one sol. One failed 2. We returned to in person school as quickly and as much as allowed. Dl killed my children’s learning. Aps refused to acknowledge problem or accept responsibility. They are a failure of a school system.

Why were you surprised? You yourself admitted that DL was challenging for him.

My 5th grade AAP Level IV kid passed (high 400s) in math and science. Pass advanced in reading, but barely (low 500s). She obviously did not take any SOLs last year, but in 3rd she got a perfect 600 in math, and high 500s reading.

My 3rd grade general ed kid passed his math and reading both with high 400s. I was honestly surprised he passed math, as he struggled all year.

DS is in third grade and passed advanced with perfect scores on both exams.

DS took three SOL tests in 9th and passed all three - barely but that's about all I expected. He has an IEP for math and worked really hard on that test and passed with a 401. phew.
