I was kind of excited about getting my period - my friends and I talked about it all the time. DD enjoyed the day off of school, the trip to the ice cream parlor and a bit of special attention. She was very open about it - maybe because she was only 11 and wanted my guidance, and maybe because I tend to be open and matter-of-fact about such things. But I know some girls are horrified to talk to their mothers about their period and are more private. There’s no right or wrong - you follow the cues of your child.[/quote]
