Very few Secret Service there now as the current VP is not living at the observatory while it is remodeled. Apparently DC traffic cameras and license plate readers do not actually record traffic or read license plates. And there is genuinely no ability to "go back in time" and search for a vehicle. Sounds insane, but apparently the city purchased the bargain basement set up. [/quote]

That needs to be fixed.  DC should approach Congress, DHS, etc for funds to build that capacity out.  Especially after the recent attack on the Capitol, threats toward members of Congress etc.  There has to be a way to capture and store some number of days worth of data from various feeds and to be able to use it to identify threats.[/quote]
Someone was murdered in the middle of the road adjacent the VPs residence and on the same street as countless embassies and the murderer is going to get away with it? If anybody had any idea where the priorities are, just look at what works and what does not. Parking enforcement is high tech with a near 100% enforcement record. Solving murders not so much. [/quote]
