[/quote] I disagree with the idea that women "improve their prospects" through marriage. In my social circle, there is very little difference in the childhood social status of the husbands and wives. If the wife doesn't make much money, it's because she put her career on the back burner to raise kids NOT because she came into the relationship disadvantaged from an SES standpoint. [/quote] Educational and SES sorting pretty thoroughly refute this idea anyway. Like marries like. [/quote]
