This should be a national news story. Absolutely despicable behavior by an institution my tax dollars help fund. https://reason.com/2021/04/07/microaggressions-uva-student-kieran-bhattacharya-threat/
I find it far more likely that he’s the common denominator given that multiple people seemed to have a similar reaction to his behavior. Occam’s Razor and all that. But you’re right that it’s scandalous that some belligerent jerk would cause a waste of taxpayer dollars defending frivolous litigation. That said, you haven’t explained, why, exactly, some dude’s axe grinding is a National news story? Can you explain your reasoning?
Because asking questions at a lecture got him booted out of med school. That’s really f’ed up. And the fact you don’t see how f’ed up that is is even more frightening.
Do you actually believe all of this stems from one single incident? Come ON. He filed this lawsuit in 2019. What's he trying to do, try it in the right-wing media? How's that going to work out for him? I did a little Googling and it would appear he's basically some smug kid from Hawaii whose overly hostile behavior and concern trolling went too far. But from the description of it, multiple people had multiple interactions with him on multiple occasions and there was a pattern that was alarming. This doesn't in any way all seem to be related to one incident at a lecture two years ago.
Did you read the articles, the transcripts, or listen to the audio? There is absolutely zero evidence of any wrongdoing. At his expulsion hearing, when he presses for exactly what he did, the only answer he got was that he “acted unprofessional”. When he asks what that means, he is told that he is displaying it now, in the hearing, that he is “being defensive”. To be clear, the kid is getting railroaded, is in his own expulsion hearing, and is accused of “being defensive”. On top of that, within hours of the panel and a dean filing the complaint about his questions, the school reached out to start interrogating him. But, instead of asking about the panel, the dean (referenced in the expulsion hearing) asks about his feelings on affirmative action and Donald Trump. I’m no Trump fan, but how on earth is that acceptable? UVA has a lot to answer for here.
