I find it far more likely that he’s the common denominator given that multiple people seemed to have a similar reaction to his behavior. Occam’s Razor and all that. But you’re right that it’s scandalous that some belligerent jerk would cause a waste of taxpayer dollars defending frivolous litigation.
That said, you haven’t explained, why, exactly, some dude’s axe grinding is a National news story? Can you explain your reasoning?
There is a transcript in the 2nd link, showing exactly what questions were asked.
Beyond the idea of a student being expelled for asking questions on microaggressions, and the obvious partisanship, there is extremely problematic weaponization of a psychological evaluation at play.
I wonder if he had other incidents. If this was the only reason for kicking him out, then it is unjustified and he has a good case. However, with that said, since I am a minority I would not want him as my doctor. It is obvious he is looking for reasons to support and justify microaggressions.

Basically the judge dismissed three of the four counts. The only one granted was whether or not he was retaliated against for his speech.
BUT, and this is a huge but -- the judge acknowledges that universities can enforce professional standards. The university's defense is this guy is a jerk with what would be alarming bedside manner. It has nothing to do with WHAT he said but rather HOW he said it and continued to double and triple down on his belligerence.
I think he loses.

Because asking questions at a lecture got him booted out of med school. That’s really f’ed up. And the fact you don’t see how f’ed up that is is even more frightening.
Do you actually believe all of this stems from one single incident? Come ON.
He filed this lawsuit in 2019. What's he trying to do, try it in the right-wing media? How's that going to work out for him?
I did a little Googling and it would appear he's basically some smug kid from Hawaii whose overly hostile behavior and concern trolling went too far. But from the description of it, multiple people had multiple interactions with him on multiple occasions and there was a pattern that was alarming. This doesn't in any way all seem to be related to one incident at a lecture two years ago.

He wasn’t expelled for the question it was about his growing frustration after the panel discussion.
Is there video?
And you think that's OK? That's a reason to be EXPELLED, even if true? Because he dared to have an opinion that differed from these pompous jackasses'?
I think if a professor tries to have a simple conversation with me and I am frustrated and combative it’s a problem. You can’t be rude and angry towards coworkers and bosses.
G the he issue was not the panel question, it was the follow up conversation with the dean/professor.
He was written up right after the lecture. Your statements don’t reflect what seem to be the facts of the case.
