That is part of it, but teams from Northern Europe have a high standard of living as well.  They also have a deeper, longstanding relationship with the game.  The fact is that in those countries they simply don't really care about women's soccer like we do.  Men's soccer is so pervasive in Europe that it's like rolling our interest in American football, baseball, and basketball, and hockey into one sport.  [/quote]

the US has title IX which ensures that womens sports are funded in college and high school. That alone gives the US a huge leg up. We're also pay to play at the youth level and parents treat sons and daughters equally- that ensures a league infrastructure for girls. In Europe, so much is sponsored by the local clubs and, for the most part, they really don't care about girls  [/quote]
