the US has title IX which ensures that womens sports are funded in college and high school. That alone gives the US a huge leg up. We're also pay to play at the youth level and parents treat sons and daughters equally- that ensures a league infrastructure for girls. In Europe, so much is sponsored by the local clubs and, for the most part, they really don't care about girls

This isn't a gender comparison. It should be a girl's sports comparison.
Nobody is talking gender; talking boys and girls soccer which is based on the sex of the person.

I never said why USWNT win or anything about failed pro womens leagues. I'm just stating that the USWNT is why soccer is so popular with young girls. I happen to agree with you that having very little competition on a global scale is the main factor, despite that article saying it's all about internal competition. They play a very direct brand of soccer with superior athletes (not necessarily superior technical players). Winning is winning though and they do a lot of it.

Think about it. And yes, I agree with you overall. But that's also why athleticism is more important than technical ability in girls (and women's) soccer.
