Most high schools aren't so lucky and are situated in areas that have a very organized club soccer scene, or cris-cross different club boundaries, or the players in the high school play for a smattering of different clubs so they developed under different trajectories.

Annandale, falls church, and some of the other high schools in the area have kids who play for 4-5 different clubs. You are at a major disadvantage from the start before tryouts even start.

HS is really just about taking the best players who try out and getting the most out of them in those 3 months to win as many games as possible. It is NOT about longer term development beyond the current season.

When a mom came to me complaining why is her daughter not playing and eating bench thinking her chief position at pentagon was supposed to intimidate me I told her my job is to win games. Not develop her. Especially considering she didn’t even play club soccer. [/quote]
